Semi-DIY School Search Workshop
You're in. Here's what to know.
Answers to the questions that come up most once you're inside the course.
Getting started
Where do I start?
Begin with the Start Here module at the top of your course dashboard. It walks you through how the course is organized, where to find everything, and how to get the most out of the material before you dive into the content.
How do I access the course materials?
All video lessons and downloadable resources are available in your course dashboard. If you're having trouble accessing anything, email us at programs@teamcrossbridge.com and we'll get you sorted quickly.
The workbook
Where do I find the course workbook?
The workbook is available as a PDF download in the Library of your course, or through the link at the top of the course home page. It contains every worksheet in the course, organized in the same order as the modules.
Print it once and keep it somewhere you'll actually use it. It's meant to be written in — the act of putting things on paper is part of how the thinking develops.
Do I need to complete every worksheet?
Not perfectly, and not all at once. Some prompts will feel immediately useful; others will take more time or only make sense later in the process. Both are fine.
The goal is an honest picture of your family's needs — not a complete document. If you find yourself skipping something because it's hard to answer, that's often worth sitting with rather than moving past.
My student is resistant to filling out their sections. What should I do?
That's common, and it's worth understanding why before pushing through it. Some students resist because the process feels abstract; others because they're anxious about what it might lead to.
A few things that tend to help: do the parent sections yourself first and share some of your answers with your student. It normalizes the process and can open a conversation. The student worksheets are also designed to feel more like reflection than homework — the questions aren't about performance, they're about preference.
If resistance is deeper than logistics, that's useful information too. It may be worth a conversation before continuing.
If you want more support
I'm working through the course but feel like I need more guidance. What are my options?
There are a few ways to get more support, depending on what you need.
- List review add-on: If you've completed Module 3 and want a Crossbridge consultant to look at your school list, this is available as a standalone service.
- Full consulting: If your situation is more complex — a student with significant profile nuance, a therapeutic placement, or a search where you want an expert in your corner throughout — we offer full consulting services.
- A quick conversation: Not sure what you need? Email us at programs@teamcrossbridge.com and we'll help you figure it out.

We've finished the course but the search is more complicated than we expected. Can Crossbridge still help?
Yes. Completing the workshop means you've done the foundational work — which actually makes full consulting more efficient, since we're not starting from scratch on your student's profile.
Visit the support page to see your options, or reach out directly at programs@teamcrossbridge.com and we can talk through what level of support makes sense.
Families who've done the workshop work tend to move faster in consulting. You'll already know what you're looking for.
